INTERNATIONAL WEEK OF THE DEAF
As spoken word is to the hearer, sign language is to the deaf.
Sign language is their mother tongue and in this International Week Of The Deaf , The Civic Foundation For Innovation joins the Deaf Women Association of Nigeria (DWAN) and the Deaf Women Aloud Initiative (DWAI) to celebrate and spread the word that "Sign Language is For Everyone".
Imagine finding yourself in an environment where you don't understand their language, and finally after what seems to be the longest day, you find somebody that speaks your language and is able to help you communicate with the locals. Well your guess is as good as mine; the word is "Relief". .
That is exactly the daily reality of the deaf individuals in our communities, and so as humans, it is imperative that we pay more attention and be our brothers' keepers (especially in this current world reality), by making a change.

Their easiest means of communication is the "Sign language", and if we really need to start having honest conversations about Inclusion, Equality and consideration of Human Rights, then the solution is simple; SIGN LANGUAGE IS FOR EVERYONE.
Always remember that there is more that unites us than separates us.
